peaceful habits — the classroom

THE REHAB CENTER where I work (Touchstone) just built a new multi-purpose building — gym, therapist offices, counseling suites, conference rooms, etc. At my suggestion they included a meditation/yoga space in their project plans. I was honored to learn that they named the room after my program — Peaceful Habits.

It's nice to know that a space has been carved out for this purpose. The room, in addition to serving as a classroom and meeting space during the week, will be where I hold my weekly tea-and-meditation sessions with patients, staff and visitors. But before I start the group up again — I put it on hold until the chaos of construction on campus settles down — I want to prepare the space, to set the right tone.

I'm thinking about doing a large wall painting (similar to the one I did at Legacy a few years ago), purchasing a Japanese armoire/buffet to store tea supplies, adding soft lighting and a few other touches. These are my ideas so far.
