Today when we hear the word PRESCRIPTION we automatically think of a prescription for medication, but doctors can prescribe other things as well.
A prescription is a written instruction from a doctor to a patient outlining the details of a treatment plan. That instruction may be to take a certain pill three times a day, or that instruction may be to walk for thirty minutes once a week. Really, a doctor can prescribe anything he thinks will be helpful for a patient — a wheelchair, eyeglasses, exercise, sunshine.
